Montana DOT seeks comments on grade crossing study
The Montana Department of Transportation is soliciting public input on a proposed update of its Rail Grade Separation Study to address changing conditions affecting grade crossings.
The proposed changes to the study, which was originally published in 2003, takes into account population growth, changes in road and train traffic volume, safety issues and traffic delays, according to a department press release.
The 2016 version of the study used data to rank Montana's public rail crossings. Ten crossings were selected for further analysis, which included site visits, recommended separation configurations, conceptual plans, benefit-cost analyses and planning costs.
The study is available for comment via this link or mailed to the department.
