MxV Rail expands testing, lab services

MxV Rail yesterday announced it has expanded its laboratory capabilities for rail component testing.
The rail testing and technology adviser in Pueblo, Colorado, recently launched several new capabilities, including a bearing rig tester with a servo-hydraulic computer-controlled load frame and a water spray feature. Additionally, a custom-designed tie wear tester was launched, and its first commercial test was recently completed, according to an MxV Rail press release.
Also now serving the rail industry's testing needs is an environmental chamber, which allows components to be tested in a controlled environment ranging from -85 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The chamber was donated by a member of the Association of American Railroads, the parent of MxV Rail.
“With the new equipment in place, our incredibly talented lab teams are providing the industry with the insights and data needed to lead the industry into the future. We’re proud to bring these new capabilities to life in our modern 70,000-square-foot testing and research facility," said Jason Reiling, MxV Rail's senior assistant vice president of business development.
All the equipment was designed in response to research needs shared by MxV Rail's Class I sponsors and other collaborators, MxV Rail officials said.
