advertisement

Earlier this week, RailPower Technologies Corp. announced President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Maier will step down to deal with “recent serious health problems.” Maier plans to continue serving as the top executive until RailPower’s board appoints a new CEO.

“Jim’s health has improved to the extent that he can continue as president and CEO during an orderly transition over the next three to six months,” said RailPower Chairman Norm Gish in a prepared statement. “He will continue as a director for the foreseeable future. We want to thank Jim for his enthusiasm, hard work and dedication over the last three years.”

RailPower produces Green Goat® and Green Kid® locomotives at plants in Calgary, Alberta; Boise, Idaho; and Longview, Texas. Early next year, the company will begin building the locomotives at a Schenectady, N.Y., facility as well as start producing two multi-engine road switchers at other plants. Yesterday, Union Pacific Railroad announced it ordered 10 Green Goats from RailPower to operate at yards in Houston and Fort Worth, Texas.
