GO Transit to expand bi-level car fleet

GO Transit and the province of Ontario are purchasing 20 passenger cars from Bombardier Transportation to meet ridership growth and reduce rush-hour overcrowding.

The cars will increase GO Transit’s bi-level fleet to 415 cars — enough to carry more than 6,400 passengers daily.

To be delivered starting in late 2006, the cars will be manufactured at Bombardier’s Thunder Bay, Ontario, plant.
