advertisement

MTA Metro-North Railroad recently awarded a $34 million contract to Bombardier Transportation to overhaul 64 Comet II coaches. The contract includes an option to refurbish an additional 40 coaches.

Between now and December 2007, Bombardier will overhaul the passenger cars’ operator controls, pneumatic braking systems, trucks, heating and air conditioning systems, and door operator systems. The company also will install new door controls, flooring and toilets, and re-arrange seats.

Bombardier built the Comet II coaches between 1985 and 1987.
