Cattron introduces digital event recorder for industrial locomotives

Cattron Group International recently began marketing a digital event recorder designed for industrial locomotive applications. Available as an FRA-certified option on railroad locomotive remote-control systems, the device monitors and records operational data that can be downloaded to a computer.

The recorder offers 220 recording channels totaling 96 hours and synchronizes recorded information with locomotive data. The device generates a single integrated report, which can be used to diagnose systems, reconstruct incidents, provide liability protection, and train and evaluate operators.

The unit is designed to monitor and record electrical analog, digital and pneumatic input data from a remote-control system and a locomotive. The device records all commands from the Operator Control Unit, remote-control inputs and outputs, and locomotive-only functions. An optional cellular modem interface enables users to retrieve and view data through a phone connection.

With operations in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil and Europe, Cattron Group offers radio frequency and industrial remote-control products to the railroad, construction, shipyard, mining, aerospace, steel, military, material handling and utility vehicle industries.
