Krebs, Molitoris join RailPower's board

RailPower Technologies Corp. recently added a couple of former high-profile rail industry executives to its board. The company named former BNSF Railway Co. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Krebs, and former Federal Railroad Administrator Jolene Molitoris directors.

Krebs stepped down as BNSF president and CEO in 2000, but continued to serve as chairman until he retired in 2002. He previously served as president of Southern Pacific Railroad, which was acquired by Santa Fe Industries. Krebs later became head of the resulting Santa Fe Pacific Corp., then BNSF chairman, president and CEO after Santa Fe Pacific merged with Burlington Northern Railroad in 1996.

In 1993, Molitoris became the first female FRA administrator, a position she held for nearly eight years. In 2001, Molitors was named president and CEO of GeoFocus L.L.C., which supplies real-time automatic vehicle location technology for all transportation modes. Last month, she resigned as president and CEO, and now serves as a consultant and advisor to GeoFocus’ board.

“The addition of [Krebs and Molitoris] will be of critical importance to us as we handle not only the commercial production rollout, but also the broader realities of becoming a major player in the railroad industry," said RailPower Chairman Norman Gish in a prepared statement.

RailPower produces the 2,000-horsepower Green Goat® and 1,000-horsepower Green Kid® yard locomotives, which are designed to cut fuel usage about 50 percent, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions between 40 percent and 70 percent compared with conventional switchers.
