Koppers Inc. this week signed an agreement to acquire Gross & Janes Co., a crosstie supply company.

Based in Kirkwood, Missouri, Gross & Janes is the largest independent supplier of untreated railroad crossties in North America, Koppers officials said in a press release. Gross & Janes has operations in Williamsville, Missouri, and Camden, Arkansas.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"The last few years have taught us the value of a strong uninterrupted supply network, and this acquisition only enhances the value of our integrated supply model by providing additional access to untreated crossties to feed our treating facilities," said Koppers President and CEO Leroy Ball.
