Canadian potash exporter Canpotex is investing CA$500 million for upgrades to key infrastructure at Neptune Bulk Terminals, located at the Port of Vancouver in British Columbia.
The project will replace and modernize essential marine and terminal infrastructure at the terminal, including the shiploaders, conveyors and dumper pit necessary for unloading rail cars and loading vessels. Served by CN, Neptune is the world's largest potash export terminal, while the port is the most critical export gateway for Saskatchewan potash. The improvements will ensure Neptune remains Canpotex's most efficient terminal for decades to come, said Canpotex officials in a press release.
The investment comes as demand for potash continues to grow. More than 15 million tons of Canadian potash moves through the Canpotex supply chain annually to customers in more than 40 countries, Canpotex officials said.
The CA$500 million investment builds on nearly CA$1.5 billion that Canpotex has invested at Neptune over the past 20 years. Work is expected to be completed in 2028.
