Watco creates supply chain services unit, tabs Wolfe to lead it
Watco Cos. L.L.C. has formed Watco Supply Chain Services and installed Eric Wolfe as the new unit's president.
Watco Supply Chain Services will focus on extending the company's existing services, and developing and enhancing Watco’s intermodal and highway offerings. In addition, the business unit will provide customized solutions to specific customer needs spanning multiple modes, services and technology fronts, Watco officials said in a press release.
"Offering broad supply-chain services is a natural step in the development and evolution of Watco," said Chief Executive Officer Rick Webb.
A supply chain and logistics industry veteran, Wolfe has played critical roles in developing several logistics companies, including J.B. Hunt Logistics, Cardinal Logistics, Clicklogistics and BNSF Logistics L.L.C., where he most recently was chief operating officer, Watco officials said. He joined BNSF Logistics after it was formed in 2002 and previously served the company as president before he assumed the COO role in 2011.
Wolfe began his career in 1988 at J.B. Hunt Transport and later became part of a startup team that launched J.B. Hunt Logistics in 1992. He was named vice president of operations in 1994. Three years later, Wolfe became senior VP at Cardinal Logistics and launched its asset light service offering. Eventually, that business was spun off and renamed Clicklogistics, where Wolfe served as COO.
"I have known Eric as an industry colleague for many years and his customer approach and commitment are commensurate with how we built Watco," said Webb. "His first step will to be to build a high-performance team focused on customer service and generating exceptional customer value."
