UP's ShipCarsNow teams up with independent auto dealer association

Union Pacific Corp.’s ShipCarsNow subsidiary recently partnered with the National Independent Auto Dealer Association (NIADA) to make it easier for independent auto dealers to access its automobile transportation services.

ShipCarsNow provides auto traders time-sensitive delivery and multi-modal rail services using fully enclosed rail cars. NIADA members will receive an exclusive discount through the partnership, according to ShipCarsNow, which also offers online ordering, shipment tracking and payment options. The company plans to soon launch a new auto transport application for smartphones designed to provide dealers faster access to shipping costs.

“In today’s highly competitive used car market, more dealers are sourcing inventory from online auctions hundreds of miles outside their normal trading zones,” said ShipCarsNow General Manager Jeff Grandstaff.

By combining truck and long-distance rail service into a seamless door-to-door transportation option, ShipCarsNow can help NIADA members “better manage their transportation costs to maximize profits,” he said.
