Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC)-represented workers at Canadian Pacific Railway recently ratified a four-year agreement, which expires Dec. 31, 2006.

Covering 4,500 train crew employees, the contract provides retroactive wage increases of 2 percent in 2003 and 3 percent in 2004, as well increases of 2.5 percent in 2005 and 3 percent in 2006. The pact also increases workers' pensions, and improves certain benefits and work rules.

"This agreement includes a framework to move forward in areas that will improve lifestyle for our membership," said George Hucker, Teamsters vice president and national legislative representative, in a prepared statement.

Earlier this month, CPR and the TCRC's Maintenance of Way Division — which represents 2,150 track maintenance workers — reached a tentative three-year agreement. The union expects to tabulate results of a ratification vote in March.
