Signalmen, boilermakers ratify contracts with CSX

CSX yesterday announced the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Forgers & Helpers (IBB) have ratified new five-year collective bargaining agreements with the railroad.
The Class I now has ratified contracts with 13 labor unions, covering 16 work groups and accounting for 54% of its unionized workforce, CSX officials said in a press release. The terms of each agreement are aligned.
“Ratifying these agreements reflects the trust we’ve built with union leadership and our shared commitment to the people who keep our company running,” said CSX President and CEO Joe Hinrichs.
The five-year agreement provides general wage increases totaling 17.5% (18.77% compounded) over the life of the contract, changes to health and welfare benefits such as a maintained cap on employee contributions at 15%, and enhancements to dental and vision coverage, according to a BRS press release.
