CN MOW workers to select Steelworkers or Teamsters as union representative
advertisement
The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) recently ordered a representation vote, enabling Canadian National Railway Co.'s 3,000 maintenance-of-way workers to choose between the United Steelworkers of America and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), Maintenance of Way Division as their bargaining representative. No vote date has been set.
Most of the workers currently are members of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes (BMWE) Canada, which merged with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters earlier this year to form the TCRC's MOW division.
In June, the CIRB certified TCRC as the bargaining representative for Canadian Pacific Railway's 3,000 MOW workers, who previously were represented by BMWE's Canadian arm.
