The Transportation Communications Union (TCU) recently announced International Vice President Daniel Biggs will become international secretary-treasurer in early 2007 to succeed Howard Randolph Jr., who plans to retire at year’s end after serving the union for 42 years.

Since joining TCU in 1964, Randolph has served as local chairman, vice general chairman, executive vice general chairman, international vice president and international secretary-treasurer.

“Randy has dedicated his life to strengthening our union at the bargaining table, in state legislatures and the halls of Congress,” said TCU International President Bob Scardelletti in a prepared statement.

Biggs previously served as an assistant local chairman, district chairman, assistant to the general chairman, vice general chairman, general secretary-treasurer and general chairman. He was elected international VP in 2003.

TCU represents mostly railroad employees among its 46,000 members, including clerks, carmen, yardmasters and intermodal workers.
