A majority of Stillwater Central Railroad Co. maintenance-of-way workers recently voted in favor of joining the International Brotherhood of Teamsters' Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED).

The union, which represents more than 50,000 MOW workers, initiated a representation campaign at the short line late last year.

Owned by the Watco Cos. Inc., the 275-mile Stillwater Central operates a line between Snyder and Sapulpa, Okla., and interchanges with BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad and Grainbelt Corp. BMWED also represents MOW workers at Watco's South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad Co.
