Schneider streamlines cross-border intermodal service

Schneider Intermodal announced this week it streamlined its cross-border clearance and inspection service for select commodities that move into Mexico via rail.

Working with Mexico's Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad, y Calidad Agroalimentaria, (SENASICA), Schneider Intermodal can now move peat moss, pet food, soy bean flour and cream substitutes across the border with inspections in Mexico instead of at the U.S. border. Simplifying this process saves shippers time and money, according to the company.

"Any time a process can be streamlined, the customer benefits," said Bernardo Rodarte, Schneider's vice president of the Mexico division, in a press release. "This seamless border crossing saves time and is a more cost-effective alternative since there are fewer handoffs during the move."

The service takes effect immediately and occurs at the Puerta Mexico (Toluca) intermodal terminal.
