The Muskogee City-County Port Authority (Port Muskogee) in Oklahoma has acquired 125.5 acres, expanding the port's footprint for industrial and infrastructural development.

Located south of the main port's footprint, the new property will offer direct access to rail, river and road transportation, Port Muskogee officials said in a press release.

The acquisition is part of a broader infrastructure transformation at the port. Recent milestones include the completion of $15 million in rail improvements, the near completion of a $12 million flood mitigation berm and the upcoming launch of $33 million in waterfront infrastructure upgrades within the main terminal at Port Muskogee.

Containing 81 acres of riverfront property and direct access to the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the property is connected to 20 states by inland waterway and to international markets via the Gulf of Mexico, Port Muskogee officials said.

Port Muskogee Railroad provides daily interchange service with Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway Co. The port's Midland Valley Branch Line interchanges with UP and serves two industrial parks.

The property, formerly known as Frontier Terminal, is now designated Port Muskogee South. The City of Muskogee Foundation provided an unspecified amount of grant funding to make the land acquisition possible, port officials said.

“This expansion is about more than land — it’s about unlocking new economic possibilities for Muskogee and eastern Oklahoma,” said Kimbra Scott, executive director of Port Muskogee. “With direct access to Class I rail carriers, Port Muskogee is strategically positioned to support and enhance industrial operations throughout the Muskogee region.”
