The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking public input as it develops an updated Statewide Multimodal Freight Plan.
The plan will set goals and strategies to streamline the movement of goods across the state by air, through ports and waterways, and via rail, highways and pipelines, NCDOT officials said in a press release.
Three public meetings will be held this week to gain public feedback on the draft plan. Meetings will be held July 14, 15 and 16 in Waynesville, Greensboro and Wilmington, respectively. The Waynesville and Wilmington meetings will include a virtual option.
The plan will be released in the fall for a public comment period; the final plan is expected to be published in early 2027.
