Next week, Norfolk Southern Railway plans to launch a domestic intermodal service connecting Cincinnati and Atlanta.
The new service aims to create a direct intermodal link between two high-demand freight markets, leveraging the Class I’s existing terminal infrastructure and 53-foot domestic container fleet, NS officials said in an online announcement.
Designed to support both southbound and northbound freight flows, the Cincinnati-Atlanta lane offers a reliable option to move freight efficiently into and out of key Midwest and Southeast markets, they said.
The service targets intermodal cargo from a wide range of industries, including retail, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, and industrial manufacturing.
“This expansion reflects [our] continued focus on disciplined intermodal growth, using existing network assets to deliver competitive, scalable solutions where customers need them most,” NS officials said.
