Los Angeles port, The Wonderful Co. to increase exports via Central Valley

The Port of Los Angeles has signed a memorandum of agreement with the city of Shafter and The Wonderful Co. to promote efficient two-way trade connections with California's Central Valley.
The collaboration will focus on bringing more U.S. exports through the port's terminals, port officials said in a press release.
The Wonderful Co. is one of the largest agricultural, real estate and consumer packaged goods companies in the United States, and one of the largest owners and operators of farming and business properties in the Central Valley, according to port officials.
The parties have pledged to promote sustainable and two-way domestic and international trade between the port and The Wonderful Co.'s logistics center, a 3,400-acre industrial development hub located along a nearby BNSF Railway Co. mainline in Shafter. Also, the company plans to add a new international rail terminal at its logistics center, scheduled for completion in 2026, to serve importers and exporters.
The agreement is designed to support the port's efforts to leverage its surplus of empty containers at its terminals, port officials said.
