The Port of Long Beach (POLB) is seeking public input on a proposal by terminal operator Total Terminals International (TTI) to redevelop its Pier T marine terminal. The proposed project would rehabilitate the terminal’s infrastructure, transition to zero-emission technologies and support higher utilization of on-dock rail.

The proposed redevelopment is one of many upcoming projects at POLB designed to boost sustainability, increase capacity and limit environmental and community impact, port officials said in a press release. Last month, TTI was chosen to receive $6.8 million in funding to support the acquisition of zero-emission cargo-handling units as part of POLB's Clean Marine Incentive Program

POLB will host a combination in-person open house and scoping meeting on July 20 as well as a separate virtual scoping meeting on Aug. 6. Written public comments will be accepted until Aug. 17.

Public comments will help inform an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Environmental Impact Statement on the project. The notice of preparation for the EIR is available on the port's document webpage.

POLB is served by Pacific Harbor Line, which interchanges with BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
