The Port of Los Angeles has extended the public comment period to Aug. 25 to provide opportunities for additional public comments on a revised draft environmental impact report (DEIR) for the Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) project.

The more than $500 million SCIG is a proposed BNSF Railway Co. intermodal facility that would be located on an existing industrial site within four miles of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with direct access to the Alameda Corridor.

The draft EIR comment period previously was extended to July 30. A public meeting was held on July 15 to present the revised draft EIR and solicit public feedback.

At the request of commenters, the port has doubled the time period for public comments.
