FECR, NS aim to improve Chicago-to-Miami intermodal service

Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) and Norfolk Southern Railway are speeding up their Midwest/Chicago-to-south Florida express intermodal service. The 351-mile regional and Class I recently began offering a later Chicago cutoff time and third-morning availability in Miami for "same day" moves.
The enhanced service — available for trailer and container moves — is designed to reduce transit time and improve asset utilization.
"We are offering a faster, truck competitive service [with] favorable economics," said FECR Vice President and General Manager of Intermodal John Lucas in a prepared statement.
