Rail News: Intermodal
Today, CSX Intermodal will begin charging customers a $100 fee to pick up and haul away empty equipment from southern California locations.
The fee will help CSXI offset the cost of positioning empty equipment in the region to meet increasing demand.
The company is "experiencing strong demand for equipment in southern California, [which will] continue to be strong throughout the peak shipping season," said CSXI officials in a prepared statement. "In an effort to meet this demand, [we've] begun positioning empty equipment from surplus locations."
