BNSF Railway on Monday announced an expanded intermodal service between the Phoenix metropolitan and Dallas-Fort Worth areas in Arizona and Texas, respectively.

The enhanced service is designed to support the conversion of traffic from truck to rail by offering transit time of just over three days on the Phoenix-to-North Texas route while leveraging the efficiency, capacity and reach of the Class I’s intermodal network, BNSF officials said in a press releaseThe service will be provided six days a week between two of the Southwest's fastest-growing markets.

“We’re seeing more customers looking for capacity solutions as we head into the domestic peak shipping season, while continuing to manage their transportation costs,” said BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel. “This expanded service responds to rapidly changing market conditions and offers a solution that combines reliable transit, access to key markets and the advantages of intermodal transportation.”

The expanded service helps lay the groundwork for future traffic growth and expanded capacity in Arizona, BNSF officials said. Construction is underway on the Logistics Park Phoenix (LPP), which will be the railroad’s second intermodal facility in the Phoenix area.

LLP's first phase is set to open early 2027It's part of BNSF’s broader logistics park strategy, which aims to connect industrial development with intermodal infrastructure to create additional supply-chain efficiencies for customers.

“As freight capacity and demand continue to evolve, we remain focused on investing in solutions that help customers grow with BNSF,” Gabriel said.
