Schneider, a provider of trucking, intermodal and logistics services, is marking its 30th year of providing intermodal service.

In 1991, the company recognized a need to offer customers more options to move freight and launched its intermodal service, Schneider officials said in a press release.

With one initial route from Chicago to Los Angeles, Schneider combined hauling freight over the road and by rail. The company's intermodal network now features over 45 ramps with major railroads connecting intermodal containers across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The company now manages about 22,300 containers and 20,600 intermodal chassis.

"Thirty years ago, we chose to embrace change and deliver a better economic value for our customers by converting to intermodal," said Schneider President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Schneider. "Today, we are a top intermodal provider, and I believe our best days are still in front of us as more and more customers look to transportation solutions that are environmentally friendly."
