Cooper takes helm as Indiana ports' executive director

The Indiana Port Commission recently promoted Rich Cooper to executive director of the Ports of Indiana. Chief operating officer since 2001 and acting executive director, Cooper will be responsible for ports in Mount Vernon, Jeffersonville and Burns Harbor, including business development, engineering and security.

He previously served as global director of manufacturing and engineering for Agribrands International and spent 30 years with Continental Grain Co. in various capacities.

“Rich has helped the Ports of Indiana achieve some significant milestones, including one of our best years ever in 2004, [and his] leadership will be key to propelling our new economic development initiatives, including intermodal transportation,” said commission Chairman Marvin Ferguson in a prepared statement.
