advertisement
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently completed an environmental assessment for the Chicago-to-Detroit/Pontiac portion of the Chicago Hub high-speed rail corridor. Now, the department is accepting public comments on the report.
The assessment describes the proposed improvements to the corridor, which include upgrading infrastructure and facilities to improve travel times, replacing the existing trainsets with up to 10 new trainsets, improving accessibility and reliability, and upgrading on-board and station amenities. In addition, MDOT plans to build a new station in Troy to replace the Birmingham station, construct a new station in Dearborn to combine two existing stations in the area and rehabilitate a Battle Creek station.
