Georgia DOT issues RFP for Atlanta-Columbus high-speed line

Last week, the Georgia Department of Transportation issued a request for proposals seeking a consultant to study the feasibility of building a high-speed rail line linking Atlanta and Columbus, Ga., according to an Aug. 9 article posted on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s website.
The study would be overseen by the city of Columbus and Federal Railroad Administration. Firms must submit bids by Sept. 21. The study is estimated to cost about $300,000.
Columbus officials have been discussing an Atlanta-to-Columbus high-speed rail line as a way to connect their city with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to the article.
