• Wi-Tronix L.L.C. has introduced the Wi-Tronix Fuel Efficiency Monitor System (FEM), which is designed to monitor locomotive performance by calculating brake-specific fuel consumption and communicate fuel usage data in real time. The FEM collects data from several sensors and the locomotive event recorder. Fuel flow meters installed in an engine’s fuel supply and return lines provide instant diesel consumption data.
• AirBoss of America Corp. reported third-quarter net sales of $68 million, up 20 percent compared with third-quarter 2007’s total. Earnings before interest and amortization jumped 48 percent to $5.3 million and net income soared 76 percent to $2 million. The company’s AirBoss Railway Products division provides fasteners, plastic pads and insulators to the North American rail industry.
• LEDtronics Inc. named Greg Krymer product sales manager for architectural lighting. He most recently was sales manager for the company’s Southern California District. Krymer will be responsible for expanding national and international sales, and accommodating customers with architectural LED lighting products. LEDtronics provides solid-state LED lighting products to various industries, including the rail industry.
• Global Railway Industries Ltd. reported third-quarter total revenue of $15.1 million vs. $7.7 million in third-quarter 2007. However, net earnings fell from $609,394 to $541,869 year over year. Global Railway provides various products to the rail industry through subsidiaries Bach-Simpson Corp., CAD Railway Industries Ltd., G&B Specialties Inc. and Prime Railway Services.
• IntraPoint obtained a contract from Amtrak to implement Web-based information management software throughout the national intercity passenger railroad's organization. Amtrak will use Crisis Manager™ with existing response plans to improve information management and quickly respond to incidents needing interdepartmental coordination.
