The Surface Transportation Board will host a series of meetings to discuss updating the STB's regulatory framework.

The announcement follows an executive order from President Donald Trump requiring federal agencies to review their regulations and policies related to competition, regulatory barriers and American energy dominance, STB officials said in a press release.

STB Chairman Patrick Fuchs has formed a policy review team to gather and analyze policy proposals in response to the president's order.

The goal of meetings will be to create a regulatory framework that supports a robust rail transportation system driven by market forces, delivers cost-effective and efficient service and supports innovation and entrepreneurship, STB officials said.

"These meetings are focused on action," said Fuchs. "Recognizing the voluminous reports, detailed submissions, and wide-ranging ideas over the years, I intend for this initiative to help us set a focused, actionable agenda that quickly delivers meaningful results for the American people."

Parties interested in providing regulatory policy ideas to the agency can sign up for one-hour virtual group meetings that will occur between Aug. 4 and Aug. 15. Interested parties should contact the Office of Public Assistance, Governmental Affairs, and Compliance at 202-245-0245 or RCPA@stb.gov with their availability.
