The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is seeking public comments until Nov. 13 on its draft strategic plan for fiscal years 2018 through 2022, the department announced late last week.The plan outlines U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao's priorities for achieving four strategic goals:• improve safety by reducing transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries across the transportation system;• invest in infrastructure to ensure mobility and accessibility, and to stimulate economic growth, productivity and competitiveness for workers and businesses;• lead the development and deployment of innovative practices and technologies that improve transportation safety and performance; and• serve the nation with reduced regulatory burden and greater efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.After revising the draft, the department anticipates the final plan will be submitted to Congress in February 2018, according to a USDOT press release.
