STB extends date for Class I data reporting rule

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) has extended the effective date of a rule requiring Class Is and the Chicago Transportation Coordination Office to report certain service performance data, the board announced late last week.

The board extended the final rule's effective date to March 21 from Jan. 29, STB officials said in a press release.

Class Is' first reports are to be filed on March 29. The board instructed Class Is to continue reporting under its interim data order until March 23.

The extension was issued in response to a Jan. 20, 2017, memo from President Donald Trump's Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who instructed the leaders of executive departments and agencies to postpone various regulatory initiatives until further review, STB officials said.
