House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster today announced U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) will chair the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials for the 114th Congress.Shuster (R-Pa.) announced Denham's appointment along with five other subcommittee chairman, and U.S. Rep. John Duncan's (R-Tenn.) appointment as the full committee's vice chairman.The other subcommittee chairs include U.S. Reps. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation; Lou Barletta (R-Pa.), Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management; Sam Graves (R-Mo.), Highways and Transit; Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio), Water Resources and Environment; and Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.), Aviation."Last Congress, the committee was able to work together to accomplish a number of our policy and legislative goals to help strengthen America's infrastructure and bolster the nation's competitiveness,” Shuster said in a prepared statement. "A great deal of our success was attributable to our committee's excellent leadership team. With the return of five of our subcommittee chairmen and full committee vice chairman, and the addition of a proven leader to lead our Highways and Transit Subcommittee, I am confident we will be able to continue effectively addressing the needs of our transportation system."The appointments are expected to be confirmed at the committee's organizational meeting later this month.
