CSX recognizes three customers for environmental practices

CSX last week announced the winners of its 2025 Customer Environmental Excellence Awards, recognizing Diageo, Geocycle LLC and Chemours for their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable supply-chain solutions through rail transportation.

The annual awards program recognizes CSX customers that demonstrate leadership by shifting freight from truck to rail, helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions and supporting a cleaner, more sustainable future, CSX officials said in a press release.

Rail transportation can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to trucks, according to data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Together, Diageo, Geocycle and Chemours eliminated over 38,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions by choosing rail, according to CSX.

To assist customers in their decisions about switching to rail transportation, CSX provides an advanced carbon calculator, which enables companies to calculate emissions savings for their shipments.
