CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Cory is retiring from the company. Cory will work with the leadership team to ensure a smooth transition, CSX officials said in a press release.
Cory was appointed CSX's EVP and COO on Sept. 8, 2023. He previously held senior leadership roles at CN, including EVP and COO, a post he held when he retired in 2019.
Cory has more than 40 years of railroad operations experience. He began his railroad career in 1981 as a laborer in the CN locomotive shops in Winnipeg, Canada. He later served CN as superintendent, general superintendent, director of service design, network operations superintendent and general manager of operations for the Michigan sub-region, VP of network operations, senior VP of the Eastern region and SVP of the Western region.
“Mike has dedicated his career to the railroad industry and has made significant contributions to CSX, our customers and our employees, helping drive safety and productivity to record levels while developing a strong bench of leaders across our operations organization,” said CSX President and CEO Steve Angel.
Meanwhile, Doug Ryhorchuk, CSX's senior vice president of operations, and Casey Albright, senior vice president of network operations and service design, will now report directly to Angel.
“CSX has a deep and experienced operations leadership team,” Angel said. “I have great confidence in Doug, Casey and our entire operations organization. Under their leadership, our priorities remain the same: operating safely, delivering consistent and reliable service to our customers, and driving long-term value for our shareholders as we continue working to make CSX the best-performing railroad in North America."
