advertisement
Yesterday, CSX Corp. kicked off “Beyond Our Rails: Project Sanctuary,” an eight-month community service project that infuses five days of management training for groups of newly hired or recently promoted managers.
The project, which officially begins Saturday, will match new managers with experienced ones to perform community service at The Sanctuary on 8th Street, a learning center for children from low-income, high-crime neighborhoods in Jacksonville, Fla., home of CSX’s headquarters.
The Class I has committed to revitalizing the Sanctuary, CSX officials said in a prepared statement. The community service projects will range from painting to mending fences to replacing windows to planting gardens.
Up to 500 CSX employees will work an estimated 1,200 service hours during the project. For every hour volunteered, the CSX Foundation will provide $10 to a charitable organization of each employee’s choice.
