CHS dedicates Class I-served propane terminal in North Dakota

advertisement

CHS Inc. has dedicated a rail-served propane terminal near Hannaford, N.D., that's considered the largest propane unloading facility in the state and biggest tank farm in the region.

Served by BNSF Railway Co. and Canadian Pacific, the terminal features a loop track that can handle up to 48 rail cars and accommodate 110-car unit trains. The terminal — which can store about 1 million gallons of propane — is expected to unload two 24-car shipments each week carrying about 750,000 gallons of propane.

The facility is operated and maintained by Central Plains Ag Services L.L.C., a joint venture between CHS and West Central Ag Services.

CHS also is building a propane terminal in Hixton, Wis., in conjunction with Federation Cooperative. To open in fall and be served by CN, the facility is designed to store 360,000 gallons of propane and offload six rail cars every 4.5 hours. In addition, two truck loading bays will load six trucks per hour.
