Canadian Pacific Kansas City yesterday announced the certification of its first nine Site Ready rail-served locations across North America.

The Site Ready program, a collaboration with engineering and construction firm Burns & McDonnell, transforms and certifies underutilized land into prime rail-served industrial development sites, CPKC officials said in a press release.

"By aligning site diligence, rail-service capabilities, functional master planning and targeted capital improvements, the program positions CPKC Site Ready properties to attract significant industrial investment," said Courtney Dunbar, site selection director at Burns & McDonnell. "This initiative showcases the transformative power of strategic site planning to unlock economic potential and drive sustainable growth across North America."

Each site is classified as gold, silver or bronze level depending on how ready for development the site is.

The new gold level sites are:

  • Puerta Queretaro Industrial Park, Queretaro, Mexico;
  • Shepard Logistics Center, Alberta;
  • Terra Regia Global Park, Nuevo Leon, Mexico;
  • Ward II Industrial Park, Louisiana;
  • World Trade Center II Industrial Park, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

The new bronze level sites are:

  • Centerville,Iowa;
  • Les Cedres Complex, Quebec;
  • Missouri River Site, Missouri; and
  • Ouerta Mexico (CPKC owned), Mexico.
