Officials from V6 Agronomy Inc. and the Port of Johnstown broke ground July 29 on a rail-served, low-carbon, enhanced efficiency fertilizer and commercial phosphate fertilizer terminal in the township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal, Ontario.
The initial building will support vessel discharge capacity up to 18,000 tons. It's the first of four planned buildings that will collectively store up to 150,000 tons of crop input materials.
V6 Agronomy will receive, store and distribute a variety of enhanced efficiency fertilizers and phosphates at the terminal, company officials said in a press release.
V6 Agronomy is collaborating with CN to implement a circular logistics model, which will reduce the need for empty rail-car and vessel returns, V6 Agronomy officials said. Outbound phosphate shipments by rail will be paired with return loads of Canadian lentils, pulses, potash, grains and sulphur.
