PlasCred Circular Innovations Inc. has entered a conditional long-term property lease with CN to construct an advanced recycling facility at the Class I's Scotford Yard in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
Effective Aug. 1, the lease covers an initial 15-year period with options for renewing another 30 years, PlasCred officials said in a press release. The 7.34-acre leased property contains an existing 35,000-square-foot industrial building and a 200-car rail siding.
The site will support the receipt and storage of mixed plastic waste bales, advanced recycling operations, condensate storage and rail shipment of finished products, PlasCred officials said. Once operational, the facility will be able to process up to 100 metric tons of mixed plastics per day and convert the material into refined hydrocarbon condensate that is used to manufacture new plastics.
"CN worked closely with PlasCred to develop the right supply chain and rail logistics strategy for the Neos project," said Buck Rogers, vice president of petroleum and chemicals at CN. "Our team helped evaluate infrastructure requirements, rail capacity, and market access considerations to create a solution that supports both current operations and future expansion."
