CN set another grain movement record in March

CN set another monthly grain volume record last month. The Class I moved more than 2.96 million metric tons of grain from western Canada, setting a new record foMarch.

The railroad also recorded its highest-ever grain movement volume in a first quarter, CN officials said in a press release.

Weekly grain volumes in March exceeded 600,000 tons for two consecutive weeks, reaching a peak of more than 650,000 tons, reflecting robust network performance and demand across both the West Coast and eastern corridors, they said.

CN was able to quickly restore network velocity following severe weather events in late March that temporarily impacted terminal capacity in Vancouver and the Prince Rupert corridor in British Columbia.

That efficient recovery, along with record export demand and the seasonal reopening of the Port of Thunder Bay, enabled [us] to achieve this new March record,” CN officials said.
