CN and CPKC yesterday reported record grain movements in April.
In the month, CN moved 3.2 million metric tons of grain from western Canada. April marks the seventh record-setting month for the Class I within the current crop year, boosted by steady export demand and available grain, CN officials said in a press release.
Meanwhile, CPKC hauled 2.9 million metric tons of Canadian grain and grain products in April, besting the company's prior record set in April 2020, CPKC officials said in a separate press release.
CPKC also reported total first-quarter 2026 grain volume of 7.2 million metric tons, beating the prior quarterly record set in Q1 2021.
