CN releases new Indigenous relations policy

CN has released a new Indigenous relations policy that aims to strengthen ties, cultivate and develop mutually beneficial relationships, and create economic opportunities as part of an effort toward reconciliation.

CN has employed a team of managers to lead the work, including Indigenous and regional representation. The team is engaging with communities to develop and nurture strong, and respectful relationships with Indigenous communities across Canada, CN officials said in a news release.

"This new policy is just one piece of the comprehensive work being undertaken at CN to build strong and meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples," said Melanie Allaire, the head of indigenous relations for CN. "We continue to work on developing our first-ever reconciliation action plan [that] will outline specific and measurable initiatives creating a true benchmark for CN to track its performance and progress."

The Class I expects to release the reconciliation action plan later this year. The policy can be read here
