Cylus is a cybersecurity company that serves the railroad industry. Its platform, CylusOne, provides freight and passenger railroads, transit agencies and equipment manufacturers a single operational view of their operational technology (OT) across wayside and signal systems, locomotives, and SCADA, dispatch and back-office systems and stations.
Railroads run on interconnected OT that generic security tools were not designed to understand, Cylus officials said in an email. Cylus-One is built specifically for rail environments, they said. It is designed to continuously discover and inventory every connected asset, providing foundational visibility, and classify each asset by its function, such as interlockings, wayside interface units and onboard control systems.
From there, CylusOne delivers vulnerability and risk management scored for rail operational context, network threat detection using deep packet inspection and machine learning, and virtual network segmentation aligned to industry standards, company officials said. Every alert is mapped to the MITRE ICS ATT&CK framework and paired with mitigation guidance written in railroad operations language — helping cybersecurity and operations teams respond together.
A dedicated Cylus research team also supplies rail-specific threat intelligence to cover new vulnerabilities and vendor advisories.
Additionally, CylusOne is fully non-intrusive, with no impact on operations or safety, Cylus officials said. It works across train control technologies including positive train control, communications-based train control and European rail traffic management system, and is available as a cloud service or on premises.
The Iron product line covers four major rail battery jobs. Iron 72 starts locomotives, replacing lead-acid starting sets with more than 1,200 amps of cranking current, more than 12 hours of hotel-load reserve and cold-weather support for automatic engine start-stop systems.
In North America, CylusOne protects Class Is along with intercity, commuter and urban transit systems, company officials said. Cylus also helps secure railroads in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

For t42, the goal is to develop purpose-built hardware and software solutions for shipping container tracking, fleet management, access control and asset monitoring. Many of the most sensitive security events for railroads, intermodal operators, yards, maintenance teams and logistics partners happen at the physical edge, and that’s where t42 Lokies comes in, company officials said.
Lokies is a smart electronic padlock designed to help secure and monitor points where gates, rail yard assets, equipment cabinets, containers, trailers or cargo handoff points are accessed outside the normal control environment. It closes the gap by combining physical locking, real-time alerting, GPS visibility and remote access management in one connected device, company officials said.
Unlike a traditional padlock, Lokies functions as both a security barrier and IoT monitoring point. It can report opening events, tamper attempts, movement and location data to the t42 online platform, providing security and operations teams a clearer record of what, when and where an event happened, company officials said.
One of the product’s key advantages is the ability to manage authorized openings remotely and link access permissions to operational rules, they added.
