Kansas City Southern de México to upgrade 32 crossings
advertisement
Last year, the Mexican Secretary of Communications and Transportation instituted a new railroad protection program aimed at preventing grade crossing collisions by upgrading and rehabilitating crossings.
As part of a 2008 program established to answer the federal call, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) plans to upgrade 32 crossings by rehabilitating surfaces and/or upgrading warning devices. Last month, the railroad completed work at the first few crossings.
KCSM upgraded three crossings in Nuevo Laredo and donated the signaling equipment to the city to be installed on an additional crossing. As a result, the city gained four new sets of signaling equipment, KCSM said.
