Members of the Transportation Communications Union/IAM’s (TCU) intermodal group have overwhelmingly ratified a new labor agreement with BNSF Railwaythe Class I announced yesterday.

The five-year agreement covers 746 BNSF workers at intermodal facilities located in Memphis; Seattle; and Chicago (Corwith) and Cicero, Illinois. The pact includes wage increases totaling 17.5% over five years (18.8% compounded), retroactive pay beginning July 1, 2025, and accelerated enhancements in vacation and preserved healthcare benefits.

In July 2025, TCU members rejected a prior tentative agreement with BNSF. The parties reached a new tentative pact in February 2026.

“The ratification of this agreement is a clear reflection of the strength of our partnership with TCU’s intermodal team members,” said BNSF President and CEO Katie Farmer in a press release. “Their confidence in this path forward energizes our efforts to keep raising the bar on our shared purpose of safety and service.”

The agreement follows the same terms as the current national pattern in collective bargaining, BNSF officials said. More than 95% of BNSF’s workforce now is covered by ratified labor agreements.
