BNSF appoints three execs to VP positions

Last week, BNSF Railway Co. named George Duggan vice president of domestic intermodal; Katie Farmer, VP of industrial products sales to succeed Duggan; and Rick Margl, assistant VP of carload equipment to succed Farmer.
Since joining Burlington Northern Railroad Co. in 1990 as a grain specialist, Duggan has served as director of customer service, director of field marketing, general director of the coal, metals and minerals business unit, general director of the chemicals business unit and VP of the chemicals unit. He began his railroad career in 1978 with the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad Co. as a management trainee, later serving as assistant trainmaster, trainmaster and terminal superintendent.
Since joining BN in 1992 as a management trainee, Farmer has held various sales and marketing positions in the chemicals, plastic and minerals business units, as well as finance, customer solutions and network operations. She previously served as director of plastics marketing and general director of chemical products sales.
Most recently AVP of measures and profitability, Margl joined BN in 1984 as an analyst in the forest products business unit. He later held stints as assistant trainmaster, terminal trainmaster, director of service measurement, director of freight equipment in the merchandise business unit and general director of merchandise service analysis.
