Amtrak today got on board with excitement over Major League Baseball's National League Central Division (NLCD) Series when the railroad's Hiawatha Train No. 332, temporarily dubbed the "Brewers Express," departed the Milwaukee Intermodal Station at 8:04 a.m. on its way to Chicago.
With rail cars decked out in the Brewers' blue and yellow team colors, the Brewers Express transported fans to Chicago Union Station to attend today's post-season game at Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs will host the Brewers in Game 3 of the NLCD Series.
Fans who boarded the train at the downtown Milwaukee station were greeted by the Brewers' Famous Racing Sausages® and the Brewers 4-1-Force, according to an Amtrak press release. The second stop on the Brewers Express was at the Milwaukee Airport Railroad Station, where more Brewers fans boarded the train for the final descent to Union Station. Brewers' mascots Bernie Brewer and Barrelman were on hand to greet fans, as well.
Milwaukee fans have always traveled in high numbers on the Hiawatha to cheer on their team against the Cubs in Chicago, Amtrak officials said.
Ahead of today's game, the Brewers lead the Cubs by two games in the post-season contest, informally known as the "I-94 Series."
The Amtrak Hiawatha operates six trains daily between Milwaukee and Chicago.
